College Application Process Terms

Safety School: A school that you are likely to be admitted to based on statistics. 

Target Scool: A school where your statistics match some of their statistics. 

Reach School: A school where you fit in with the bottom 25% of statistics.

Early Decision: A binding agreement to attend a college if you are accepted. These deadlines are usually earlier than regular decision deadlines. 

Early Action: This deadline is also earlier than regular decision deadlines, but you are not required to go if you are accepted.

Rolling admissions: This policy means that applications are accepted and decisions are released on a regular basis.

Regular Decision: This is the usual January-February deadline with a decision released near April.
